Sweater_Weather_(The_Neighborhood_single_cover)Song Of The Day:

The Neighbourhood – “Sweater Weather”

I have seen The Neighbourbood a couple times at festivals, Live at Leeds last year and Leeds Festival this year.  I am seeing them again tonight at Stylus in the Leeds University Students’

Union.

Sweater Weather” is a song by American indie rock band The Neighbourhood. The song was written by group members Jesse Rutherford, Zach Abels and Jeremy Freedman, and was produced by Justyn Pilbrow. It serves as the lead single from their debut studio album, I Love You (2013). “Sweater Weather” reached number one on the Billboard Alternative Songs chart in June 2013, logging eleven non-consecutive weeks at the summit of the chart. It was re-released on November 2, 2013 in honor of the 2013 winter season

80’s Music Blog Soft Cell “Tainted Love”

tainted-love1

One of the great 80’s songs was Soft Cell’s “Tainted Love”. I can remember dancing to this song in high school like it was just the other day. There is something about these lyrics and music that brings forgotton memories to the surface as clear as yesterday.

Soft Cell’s Tainted Love Lyrics

Sometimes I feel I’ve got to
Run away I’ve got to
Get away
From the pain that you drive into the heart of me
The love we share
Seems to go nowhere
And I’ve lost my light
For I toss and turn I can’t sleep at night

(chorus)
Once I ran to you (I ran)
Now I’ll run from you
This tainted love you’ve given
I give you all a boy could give you
Take my tears and that’s not nearly all
Oh…tainted love
Tainted love

Now I know I’ve got to
Run away I’ve got to
Get away
You don’t really want IT any more from me
To make things right
You need someone to hold you tight
And you’LL think love is to pray
But I’m sorry I don’t pray that way

(chorus…)

Don’t touch me please
I cannot stand the way you tease
I love you though you hurt me so
Now I’m going to pack my things and go
Tainted love, tainted love (x2)
Touch me baby, tainted love (x2)
Tainted love (x3)

Billy Idol Music

Billy+Idol+173871_billyidol39If your an 80’s music buff like i am, you love some of the rock that came from era. Here is one of my favorites “Rebel Yell” from billy idol, along with the lyrics for you to enjoy.

Lyrics to Billy Idol’s “Rebel Yell”Last night a little dancer came dancin’ to my door
Last night a little angel Came pumpin cross my floor
She said “Come on baby I got a licence for love
And if it expires pray help from above”In the midnight hour she cried- “more, more, more”
With a rebel yell she cried- “more, more, more”
In the midniight hour babe- “more, more, more”
With a rebel yell- “more, more, more”

She don’t like slavery, she won’t sit and beg
But when I’m tired and lonely she sees me to bed
What set you free and brought you to be me babe
What set you free I need you hear by me
Because

In the midnight hour she cried- “more, more, more”
With a rebel yell she cried- “more, more, more”
In the midniight hour babe- “more, more, more”
With a rebel yell- “more, more, more”

He lives in his own heaven
Collects it to go from the seven eleven
Well he’s out all night to collect a fare
Just so long, just so long it don’t mess up his hair.

I walked the ward with you, babe
A thousand miles with you
I dried your tears of pain, babe
A million times for you

I’d sell my soul for you babe
For money to burn with you
I’d give you all, and have none, babe
Just, just, justa, justa to have you here by me
Because

In the midnight hour she cried- “more, more, more”
With a rebel yell she cried- “more, more, more”
In the midniight hour babe- “more, more, more”
With a rebel yell she cried “more, more, more”

Oh yeah little baby
she want more

Oh yeah little baby
she want more

Stress-Relieving Sounds of Music

imagesMsic serves so many functions… One of my favorites is stress relief. I had a really stressful day, so I decided that I wanted to listen to some good, relaxing music, and write a little. Choosing music to relax by is a delicate process – it has to be easy enough to soothe frazzled nerves, but definitely NOT anything that would be even more depressing.

No sad music allowed, but nothing overly upbeat or – God forbid – angry! (Save the angry music for when you need a little boost of courage or motivation to help you follow through.) So tonight I finally decided on a CD called Dreamcatcher, by a new age artist called Secret Garden. (Some of you might recognize their music from the Pure Moods CDs.)

The Celtic music is very pretty and soothing, but it’s basically happy music – contentedness would be a good way to describe it, I think. After the day that I had, it’s a perfect way to de-stress. (And much more beneficial than my first impulse – which I didn’t follow through with, thankfully – to get plastered.) If you like using music as a remedy and a comfort, then I highly recommend Secret Garden!
